Too tacky. That's what some players told us about our old finish. So we took the tack off and kept the 3D raised checkered texture that does the real gripping. Smooth in your hands, locked in when it counts.
One shaft, three weights, black or white. Pick the one that matches how you play.
Pick your weight
| Weight | Built for | Warranty | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| 145g | Attackmen and offensive middies who want the fastest hands | 90 days | $84.99 |
| 175g | Two-way middies who want a more solid feel | 180 days | $89.99 |
| 210g | Box, short stick D mids, and players who break shafts | 365 days | $94.99 |
The heavier the build, the longer the warranty. That isn't a sales tier, it's what the extra material buys you.
What changed, and why
The old build had a soft tack coating over the texture. Feedback split hard: some players loved it, others said it grabbed their gloves. We pulled the coating off this batch and kept the 3D raised checkered pattern underneath, which is what actually holds your hands in place.
The weight saved on coating went back into carbon. Same weight class, more carbon in the wall.
Liked the old tack? We kept the last of that build in a Soft Tack Edition at 20% off, same warranty, while it lasts.

Questions
Which weight should I pick?
145g if you play attack or offensive midfield and want the quickest hands. 175g if you play both ways and want a more planted feel. 210g for box, short stick D, or if you have broken shafts before. When you're between two, the heavier one lasts longer and carries the longer warranty.
Is this the tacky one?
No. This is the current build with the tack removed and the 3D raised checkered texture kept. If you want the old soft tack finish, the last of that build is on the Soft Tack Edition page at 20% off.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Send a photo. You don't ship the shaft back. Claims go through primosportsco.com/pages/warranty and the term runs 90, 180 or 365 days depending on the weight you bought.
How should I clean it?
Warm water and a cloth. Do not use rubbing alcohol. It damages the paint and the 3D decal.
Is it pre-drilled for a locking bolt?
No. Primo shafts are not pre-drilled, so a locking bolt setup needs drilling yourself.
How long until it ships?
1 to 2 business days, then 1 to 5 business days in transit depending on where you are. Expedited shipping is available at checkout.
What if I don't like it?
30-day trial on non-custom shafts. Return shipping is free for US customers. International customers pay return shipping.

Once I opened the box and pull the Darkhorse shaft out, I knew I was going to like it.
The feel of the shaft is amazing. Has the hexagon shape that I prefer and the grip on it is unbelievable. You feel the added grip without it being too tacky so my hands can move around effortlessly without my gloves getting stuck to the shaft.
I play a lot of box so I wanted a durable shaft and the 200 was perfect.
Extra durability without feeling too heavy. It is the perfect balance of weight and feel.
Would definitely recommend buying one of these shafts!
I bought this handle to test it out for my team. The grip profile is phenomenal, and the texture got rave reviews. It’s holding up nicely to college ball in cold weather. I definitely plan to purchase another.
I have been using this shaft the past 3 months. It's by far the best shaft I've ever used. The grip is phenomenal, the strength is great. I primarily play Two Way Mid and it's stood up to some big guys trying to bull dodge me and it's stood up to an incredible amount of abuse from Poles as well. I'll be ordering 2-3 more.
Like the feel of it
Played with it for a few games so far in a men’s league. First impressions I thought I wasn’t going to like the raised texture on the shaft. Just because I was so used to the obsidian 155. But after a few games it’s definitely grown on to me. I still think I prefer a shaft without the raised texture. The obsidian 155 is my all time favorite shaft I have ever used. I think the darkhorse 175 is going to be a strong #2. It’s definitely durable and it will be my go to shaft from here on out. Can’t wait to see what Primo comes out with next!
