Why the pinch matters

The box floor is 200 feet by 85 with boards, five runners a side, and a goalie who fills most of the net. Possession is everything, because you rarely get a second look. A tighter pinch holds the ball through cross-checks and traffic in a way a field pinch doesn't, and that's the whole reason box has its own rules on head width.
