What the pinch actually does
Narrowing the face changes how the ball behaves in the head. It tracks straighter out of the pocket, sits tighter through contact, and leaves sooner on a short pass. In box, where you are releasing under pressure in a crowd, that is the whole game.
- Tighter channel. The ball comes out on a truer line.
- Better retention. A narrower face holds through contact, and box is nothing but contact.
- Quicker release. Less side-to-side travel means less time on the release.
- Optimized scoop. Built to pick balls off the boards and off the floor in traffic.
Read this before you buy: box only.
The RC1 Box Pinch is not legal for field play under most high school (NFHS), college (NCAA) and youth regulations. The internal dimensions at the widest point measure slightly below 6 inches, which falls below the required minimum width for legal field play.
That is the point of the head, not a flaw in it. If you play outdoor, buy the field-legal standard RC1 instead. Check your league's equipment rules before use.

How it compares
In the box: one RC1 Box Pinch head, unstrung
What you'll add
- Mesh, sidewall string and shooters. Primo Select 10D is $11.99 and made in the USA.
- A ball stop. The RC1 is designed to accept Croc Jibbitz charms as a ball stop, an easy way to customize your stick.
- A screw, only needed if your shaft doesn't already have one. Most do.
Want it ready to play? The RC1 Box Pinch Strung is $44.99, strung in our Box Pocket.
Questions
Is it legal for high school or college field lacrosse?
No. The RC1 Box Pinch is not legal for field play under most high school (NFHS), college (NCAA) and youth regulations because of its narrower head width. This head is built for box lacrosse. Check your league's equipment rules before use.
How is it different from the standard RC1?
Same RC1 shape and the same 5.4 oz weight, pinched narrower through the face. The standard RC1 is the field-legal version and the one to buy if you play outdoor.
What does the warranty cover?
The head, for life, with no receipt required. If a Box Pinch breaks, 5LAX ships a standard RC1 and we provide instructions for pinching it in house. Mesh, strings and stringing aren't covered.
Can I dye it or restring it later?
Yes. The numbered sidewall holes make restringing straightforward, and dyeing does not void the head warranty.
How long until it ships?
Unstrung heads ship in 1 to 2 business days, then 1 to 5 business days in transit depending on where you are. Expedited shipping is available at checkout.
