What the 60″ Sc-Ti 7X is

The 60″ Sc-Ti 7X is a 385-gram scandium-titanium alloy pole for LSMs and close defenders. It is metal, which means the checks you throw all game dent it instead of breaking it. If you want a lighter pole and can accept composite's failure mode, the Darkhorse-375 is the carbon alternative at the same length.

Who this is for

  • Close defenders who throw checks every possession and are tired of replacing poles
  • LSMs who need a pole that survives ground balls and transition contact
  • Players who have had a composite pole let go mid-check

Who this isn't for

  • Poles who prioritise weight above everything. 385 g is a substantial pole. Carbon goes lighter — see the Darkhorse-375 at 375 g.
  • Attack and midfield. You want the 30″ Sc-Ti 7X.
  • Goalies. Wrong profile.

Metal pole vs carbon pole

A defensive pole takes more contact than any other shaft on the field, so failure mode matters more here than anywhere.

Scandium-titanium at 385 g absorbs checks by deforming. A dented pole is still a pole. You keep playing and you replace it on your schedule.

Carbon composite — the Darkhorse-375 at 375 g, or the Darkhorse-425 at 425 g if you break poles — is stiffer and transmits a check more directly. When composite fails it fails completely, usually at the worst moment.

If you have snapped more than one pole in a season, metal is the honest recommendation.

Finish — which grip

  • Bead Blast — uniform matte texture. The subtlest of the two, and the most forgiving if you re-tape.
  • 3D Raised Checkered Grip — raised checker pattern for secure control in wet or sweaty conditions.

Warranty and legality

Questions

Is 385 g heavy for a pole?
It is a substantial pole, chosen deliberately. Mass is what lets metal absorb repeated checks. The Darkhorse-375 carbon pole is 375 g if you want lighter at the same length.

Is it legal for high school and college?
Yes. NFHS and NCAA legal.

Do I need to tape it?
No. Both finishes are textured for grip without tape.

How long is the warranty?
180 days, with claims reviewed within 5 business days.
