Choose one of eight setups. Each is strung by hand after you order. Our pick for the Darkhorse: Mid-Low, inside strung, for the best blend of hold, control and quick release.
- Mid-Low. The most hold and the least whip, with a smooth, deliberate release. Favored by attackmen and anyone who cradles one-handed through traffic.
- Mid. A balance of hold and release speed with moderate whip.
- Mid-High. The fastest release and more whip for power.
- Inside strung Mid, Mid-Low or Mid-High. The same three pockets with the sidewall strung on the inside.
- Box Pocket. An all-around pocket. The ball sits low when you cradle vertically or protect your stick, then shifts mid-high when you pass or shoot for a quick release. A looser channel gets passes and shots off fast in tight spaces.
- Custom, add $5. For custom shooting string or sidewall colors, or a pattern that isn't one of the other seven. Tell us exactly what you want in the notes field. We stock most colors in the Jimalax line.

Darkhorse or RC1?
Built for offense. Lighter at 5 oz, with a tighter face shape and a deeper offset. Ball stop included. For attackmen, offensive middies and box forwards.
The more versatile option. A wider face shape and a slightly heavier build at 5.4 oz for durability. Preferred by attackmen, middies, defensemen and LSMs alike, and beginner friendly thanks to the wider face. Same price, same warranty.

Not included
- A screw, only needed if your shaft doesn't already have one. Most do.
- A locking bolt, if you want one. The Darkhorse accepts StringKing's rectangle, diamond or square locking bolt, about $2. Not the square short. You'll need to drill a small hole in the front of your shaft.

Which pocket should I pick?

How do I make sure it's strung exactly how I like it?
Use the notes field when you pick your pocket. Whip, hold, shooter setup, width, anything. Without notes, you get our standard version of the pocket you chose. You can also upload photos of your current pocket, free with any pocket, and we'll match it as closely as we can.
How long until it ships?
Every strung head is strung to order and ships in 2 to 5 business days, then 1 to 5 business days in transit depending on where you are. Need it sooner? Expedited shipping is available at checkout.
Can I pick my shooting string and sidewall colors?
Yes. Choose the Custom pocket, a $5 add-on, and name your colors in the notes field. We stock most colors in the Jimalax line.
Should I get the Darkhorse or the RC1?
If you want a head built specifically for offense, the Darkhorse. If you want the most versatile option, the RC1: a wider face shape and a slightly heavier build, preferred by attackmen, middies, defensemen and LSMs alike, and beginner friendly.
What is Shaft Sight?
A cutout on the side of the throat that lets you see the shaft is pushed all the way in. On heads with a solid throat, it's easy to leave the head not fully seated without knowing, which can lead to premature breaks in the throat. With Shaft Sight, you can check before you tighten the screw.
Is it legal for high school and college?
Yes. The Darkhorse is NCAA and NFHS legal.
Does the warranty cover the pocket?
No. The Lifetime-ish Warranty covers the head only. Mesh, strings and stringing aren't covered, so if a strung head breaks, 5LAX replaces the head, not the strung pocket.
Can I restring or dye it later?
Yes. The numbered sidewall holes make restringing easy, and dyeing does not void the head warranty.
